Cwmllynfell arrived at Little Warren, Aberavon Beach, today as the only team to have defeated Aberavon Green Stars this season in Division 3 West Central A (8-6 in Cwmllynfell on September 28).
A determined Green Stars fifteen were quick off the mark and their captain and pack leader Alwyn Williams scored the first of their four tries after ten minutes. Centre Liam Lloyd then put over two penalties before the visitors opened their account with an interception try by winger Owain Sullivan. Almost immediately afterwards, centre Chris Leyshon replied with a try and Liam Lloyd's conversion made it 18-5 at halftime.
First to score in the second half was the visitors' centre Chris Murphy with a penalty before Aberavon Green Stars took back control of the game with another two tries. The first by full back Courtney Davies and, just before the final whistle, lock Karl Larkworthy broke through like a threequarter to score under the posts. Liam Lloyd converted both to provide a 32-8 bonus point win - a good morale booster for next Saturday's quarter final of the WRU Bowl competition against Fairwater RFC in Cardiff.
